Hey everyone,
We’ve been getting a lot of messages about the recent landslides in Ha Giang, especially after the heavy rains in September 2024. I know it sounds scary when you hear about landslides and typhoons in the area, but I’m here to reassure you—it will be okay. We live there, at Borderlands we run tours in Ha Giang, so feel free to message us to get an update.
Yes, there were some landslides last month, the worst in Bac Quang (south Ha Giang) which sadly had casualties. This caused temporary roadblocks, as they sometimes do during the rainy season. Typhoon Yagi didn't help too (even if it didn't affect Ha Giang as much as other provinces). But here’s the thing: the worst of the rainy season is behind us now. The weather is getting better every day, with super fresh air, clear skies, and plenty of sunshine. October is actually one of the best times to visit because the landscape is lush and beautiful, and the roads are quickly being cleared up.
Vietnamese road teams are amazing—they’ve already been out there, working around the clock to clear the paths and make sure everything is safe again. They do this every year, and they’re incredibly fast and efficient, so you can trust that the roads will be open for your adventure.
So if you’re worried, don’t be! The Ha Giang Loop is ready to welcome you, and you’ll get to experience it at its best—without the stress. Think of clear skies, fresh mountain air, and those incredible views that make Ha Giang so special.
There’s no need to change your plans—Ha Giang is still the breathtaking destination you’ve dreamed of, and now that the weather is perfect, it’s an ideal time to come and explore. Safe, beautiful, and waiting for you. Send us a message, and do the private tour with us. We bring comfy and safe adventure to the Ha Giang Loop!
